Untreated Aluminium has very good corrosion resistance in most environments. This is primarily because Aluminium spontaneously forms a thin but effective oxide layer that prevents further oxidation.
Unlike the oxide layers on many other metals, it adheres strongly to the parent metal and If damaged mechanically, Aluminium’s oxide layer repairs itself immediately.
This oxide layer is one of the main reasons for Aluminium’s good corrosion properties and its choice as a material to favour when looking for a roofing solution that will handle the worst our climate can throw at it year after year.

The curved roofs of our pod design is sealed with 2mm thick aluminium, which is why we guarantee our roofs for 15 years.
Based on documented tests where 20 year old sample pieces of aluminium sheeting have been subjected to UV and costal weather condition it’s likely that our roofs will last 50+ years before they will require maintenance.

What about rubber or felt ?
Have you ever tried to stretch an old rubber band? Changed an old bike tyre? If you have you may well have noticed that the rubber had become brittle or perished which meant it lost its elasticity and then snapped or broke.
We honestly considered rubber EDPM roofs as the majority of the market have chosen but came away from it as we realised that opting for 2mm thick Aluminium was far superior therefore massively better value for our clients.

Looking at the evidence it is clear that UV light affects everything and ages it, some materials perform better such as Aluminium while others such as rubber will be affected and require costly resurfacing, possibly 3 – 4 times in the space of a metal roofing solution.
Aluminium Guttering
Plastic-fantastic but compared to Aluminium for a guttering solution? Same issue regarding longevity and therefore value for money. UV light and exposure to the elements will eventually mean that plastic guttering will become brittle, crack and split which means repairs and costs later down the line.
Our neat Aluminium guttering solution will outlast plastic and is far more aesthetically in keeping with our contemporary style.
